Warrior Workshops were created to bring together children facing chronic illness and their caretakers.
Our hope is that making connections with others facing similar challenges will help them to feel supported, appreciated and accepted.
We focus on LIVING with chronic illness.
Children with chronic illnesses experience frequent doctor and hospital visits, some of their treatments may be scary or painful and hospital stays can be frightening and lonely. Children with chronic illnesses will feel "different" than other children. With the help of certified Child Life Specialists, we have created a safe space for children with chronic illness to get together and connect with each other. We are offering this workshop to children ages 8-18 that live with chronic illness.
Being a parent and/or caretaker of a child with a chronic condition is not easy. There is so much to learn, so many sleepless nights, medications to give, treatments to remember. There is constant worry and constant pressure to do the right thing. As our warriors connect in the Warrior Workshop, parents/caregivers will meet in the room right next door. They too will have the opportunity to connect and share their personal experiences and offer one another emotional comfort and moral support.
No matter what your illness or background is, there is the common bond which we share: we are all trying our very best to make our children healthy, safe and happy.
